Early music summer course in the city centre!

The Alternative Early Music Association

in addition to their traditional Early Music Summer Academies in August

offers a new master class in July this year

for those who are interested in performing early music in period style

with world-renowned teachers of

violin, violoncello, viola da gamba, recorder, voice and harpsichord

between

 1 – 7 July 2024

in the

Benczúr House

(1068 Budapest, Benczúr utca 27.).

This year, for the first time in this nice venue in the city center of Budapest, we kindly invite all of those musicians over 14, who are interested in performing early music orchestral and consort repertoire the „historically”, or „stylistically” correct way.

Since the course’s main aim is to work out an „authentic” consort and orchestral sound, this year with a special emphasis on French Baroque, we mostly expect baroque orchestral instruments like strings, woodwinds and keyboard players to apply, however any other instrumentalists and singers are also welcome to an unique opportunity to form ensembles for playing consorts, madrigals together.  

For string players we can provide in limited numbers of historically built instruments too.

Teachers:

Szabolcs Illés– baroque violin, strings, orchestra, chamber music, Sheng-Fang Chiu – recorder, chamber music (3-7. July), Katalin Károlyi – singing, chamber music, Kinga Gáborjáni – baroque cello, viola da gamba, chamber music, continuo, Márton Borsányi – harpsichord, continuo, chamber music.

Each course is open to a minimum of 6 applicants.

During the course, lessons and lectures are available in the following languages:

Hungarian, English, German, French

The course will end with a final concert on the last day.

Attendance fee: 70.000 HUF (175 EUR)

which contains the following:

orchestral rehearsals, (3 hours a day)

participation in chamber music groups and chamber music lessons

private instrumental lessons

opportunity to try „authentic” instruments

chamber music and private lessons with basso continuo

free entrance for course-concerts and lectures during the week

DAY TICKETS for passive participants: 25 €

You can apply by filling in and sending the online application form below and by paying the application fee of 30.000 HUF (ca. 75€) to the following account of our association by the application deadline. The application fee will be credited to the course participants’ participation fee, but no refund will be requested in case of withdrawal. Applications can be accepted only upon payment of the application fee. Please transfer the balance of the course fee to the same account number before the start of the course. When transferring the money, please indicate the name of the participant and „Benczúr-Barokk” in the remarks field.

FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING IN BOTH OF OUR SUMMER COURSES:

Participation fee: 80.000 HUF (200€), including in this case the 40.000 HUF (100€) application fee.

In this case, however, please indicate the name of the participant and „Benczúr-Barokk” and „VII Summer Academy of Early Music” in the remarks section of the transfer form.
